Best place for joints

It seems only right that, as we are a leading Nationwide fabricator of prestigious countertops and one of the most popular requests for information on Corian and Quartz, we receive, relates to Corian and Engineered stones such as our own Prestige Quartz worksurfaces, that we answer your questions and queries on the subject in a forum. Best place for joints

Postby Parker on Sat Jan 14, 2012 6:57 pm

Hi, hope someone can advise on this - is it safe to have a joint in a quartz worktop (30mm) under the hob, that is going through the hob cut-out? The worktop has a 33cm overhang and the units are free-standing (ie not against a wall). Of the two pieces being jointed, one piece would be an L-shaped corner, the other a long (3m) straight section. The hob cutout is 56cm, the actual hob is 70cm wide. Many thanks, Josy

Josh,
I'm finding it a little difficult to visualise what you mean here but any joint formed in a cut out section will be more vulnerable than one supported under the full depth of a surface
