design advice needed

Postby Randi on Fri Jul 11, 2003 2:36 pm

hi,
i just ordered manitoba maple (very light) foil cabinets and blackstar
granite counters from my builder. The floor is bone ceramic tiles. I have
a large kitchen and family room. I'm torturing myself over ordering black
appliances or bisque. I know this is a personal decision but i need
professional help. i can't decide. the more i think about it the harder
the decision becomes.

help!

Hi Randi,

Thanks for visiting my site.
Personally I'd opt for black.
To grab the attention you need to create a greater contrast with your bone
finished flooring.
Black appliances will acheive this, not only with the floor but also with the
door colour .
This way all the individual components of your kitchen will strike equal
visual attention.

I'm certain this is the right decision so stop torturing yourself and make
that order.

Randi,
I would very much appreciate if you could let me know how you came across
our site.
We are UK based and I assume you are in the US.

Anyway I hope I've been of assistance and if you wish for further advice
don't hesitate to post again

Regards,

Tim

Tim,

Thaks for the advice on black appliances. That's the way I am
leaning as well. I found your site on the internet in google when I requested kitchen design advice. I am in the US. The house I'm building is in Florida but right now I live in

NYC. I visited the
UK many years ago and hope to revisit soon.
Another question. I have 2 hunter green leather loveseats that I am taking with me to Fla. I thought I would put them into the family room connected with the kitchen. Will this go

with the black appliances and blackstar counters? How can I add the green into my kitchen?

Thanks Randi

Randi,
.

With regard to your hunter green loveseats, there are no hard and fast rules on what you place in your kitchen unless of course the items are an obvious clash, but I believe no two

finishes match better than green and Maple anyway. Black will add further contrast and look great as a blend with your other two choices.
I feel it's an advantage that you already own your loveseats because my
suggestion, if you did not, would be to buy green anyway.
A perfect choice of colours.

Regards,

Tim.
