Dear Tim, I am responding to your invitation from your article on the kitchenbuyersguide website, to seek guidance on appliance selection. I am having difficulty choosing my appliances, requirements listed later, as :- 1. Different kitchen suppliers seem to promote one or two brands and rubbish the rest. 2. Whilst I believe you get what you pay for, in some instances you also pay over the odds for a “name”. 3. The normal appliance retailers, whilst they can stock a large range of free standing appliances, understandably cannot stock a large range of built-in appliances. 4. Using your car analogy, I would not want to buy without seeing it in the flesh. So, my requirements are :- Here’s hoping you can give me some useful advice please. Yours sincerely, |

It’s in a salesman’s interest to promote the use of the appliances they sell yet those who maintain and install them will tell you the real picture. Perhaps you are right when you state that certain appliances are overpriced and it is chic for some to own the top end brands not unlike the ownership of designer clothes. My own preferences without naming the higher end appliances are most definitely the Neff, Bosch, Siemens and all belong to the same group. All of your requirements can be met by these manufacturers apart from a side opening appliance, which I must say, would prove to be an advantage when combining a combination microwave and oven in the same unit. Manufacturers should note this in our ergonomic climate. My recommendations for you would be the Neff K4664 Fridge with freezer compartment, Neff 1881 Single oven with slide away door and the Neff H7881 Combination Microwave all of which meet your capacity needs and are matching in the case of the latter two. Hope this helps. |
