Hi

I have read the article on installing a kitchen and all is going well with the current install but I do not uinderstand how to attach the base units to the wall. I have read (and re

-read!) the relevant paragrapg but am still not enlightened.

“When all the cabinets are levelled and in place, they will require fixing to the walls. This will only be required at alternate gables. Hold a 25mm right-angled bracket to the wall

and against a gable interior. Mark through the bracket with a pencil to the wall and drill at a downward angle. Insert a rawlplug and fix to the wall using a 50mm screw. Fix the

bracket to the cabinet gable using a 16mm screw.”

The units have backs held in place by a crossbar. Do I remove the back to attach the unit? What is a gable in this context?

Thanks in anticipation

The gable is the side elevation of a unit and the majority of units employ a 40-50mm void behind the back for services such

as plumbing or electrical cables. It is within this void that you attach the angle brackets for fixing to the wall. Fitted to the gale using a 16mm long screw and to the wall using a

minimum of 50mm. Not much room, I know, but the best method to utilise.

On the subject of using the articles to fit a kitchen I would be grateful if anyone could send images of their project and some feedback on how useful the articles proved to be.

Thanks for that Tim

Can you confirm that to access this part of the unit you need to remove the back fix to the wall and then reinsert the back.

Will see what I can do about feedback on the articles.

Thanks.

Purpleski,

Fixing is normally achieved without the removal of the back and the angle bracket is fitted near to the top of the void. Once marked to the wall drill at a downward angle and insert a

rawlplug, offer unit to wall with and screw home ensuring it remains level.
Arkward I know, but you get quite used to it after doing so many.

Good Luck.
