Hi Another question. In the guide Tim writes: “Now, from the underside, fit the worktop bolts and tighten up” . What are these bolts? Can the be purchased? Is it acceptable to simple screw the work top to the base units? As background we are installing a second hand kitchen from my brother in law’s London house into our house here in France. Originally the units had a marble top but we are installing laminate at the moment as we can not afford anything else! So no bolts when we dismantled the kitchen. We are also missing the specialised fixings for fixing the sink in place. Can these be purchased separately? We have asked here in France and told “NO”. Altrernative is to buy a new sink of good quality and install that or a cheap sink £40 to get the fixings but would rather not. Lastly we have a couple of parts that I am not sure what they are for; is it possible to photograph them and email them to you Tim? Thanks for any tips. |

Worktop bolts are available from a number of suppliers including the large diy stores and are used to tighten up worktop joints after the application of sealant to provide a waterproof and neat finish to your worktops. It is acceptable to fix worktops through the base units but remember that you must oversize the hole if your worktops are wooden. An alternative to using sink fixing clips but one that renders your sink out of action for a day, is to apply silicone sealant 10mm width around the worktop cut out and place sink in position. to ensure a watertight fitting. By all means send images and I’ll let you know what they are used for. |
