Big day on Thursay my kitchen is to be delivered.

The adventure begins.
I need to know the heights for the base units. I have lost the piece of paper from my kitchen supplier with them on

1. What is the recommended heigth for a base unit without the worktop fitted.
2. 500mm is recommended by you for the distance between worktop and the underside of the wall unit. If you are fitting pelmets do you make it 500mm to the bottom edge of the pelmet

from the worktop, or leave it to the underside of the wall unit.

I have downloaded your guide to fitting kitchens, and know to allow for the floor cover.
I will take you advice and fit the wall units first. The kitchen supplier was most amused at me doing this first, he forecasts disaster, but we will see.
Wish me luck

There is no recommended height for base units. It is

dependent on your supplier.
Some may offer 150mm plinth with a cabinet height of 720mm whereas others may use 140mm plinth and 740mm cabinets.
This is what you have to determine from your supplier.

Heights between wall unit and worktop are best determined by establishing the height of your chosen manufacturers relative larder or oven/fridge housings.
More often than not when using mid height wall units, this leaves a gap of approximately 500mm which is my rule of thumb size conveyed in the articles.

If pelmet is to be fitted then this reduces the height but poses no regulatory breach with regard to gas regs.

Fitting wall units first is only logical but requires that you prepare well in marking out the walls to ensure correct alignment of extractor and hob.

If it amuses your supplier then I guess he hasn’t suffered much from customers complaining of damaged worktops caused by the debris filled boots of his installers.

Good luck NSpark and keep us updated.
