hayley	Hi Tim, I have been trawling through hundreds of web pages trying to find out information on Baumatic appliances. We are fitting a new kitchen and would like a new single cooker, microwave oven and chimney extract and on comparing different manufacturers Baumatic seem to be much more affordable ie we are able to get a pyrolytic oven in Baumatic where in any other make we would not be able to afford it. However, I am a little worried since I have never heard of them before (although they seem to be being compared to the big boys!) and am concerned that their build quality and after care service is possibly not as good. Have you ever come across this manufacturer and if so, do you have an opinion on how they compare to other makes? I have been onto the Which? website and it actually recommends the Baumatic B205 SS as a ‘Best Buy’ however, I’d like a second opinion. The exact product references we have been looking at are: - Microwave BTMW2 SS Oven B484 SS Chimney Hood BT83AL I would be extremely grateful if you have a view on this matter. Many thanks, Hayley

timfoley	Hayley, Baumatic are a manufacturer from the Czech Republic whose UK offices are based in Reading. They are becoming increasingly popular with buyers who have an eye on affordability and style and they recently answered questions we posed them in a survey. Their responses may provide you with some of the answers you seek. Take a look at http://www.kitchensfitted.co.uk/Newsandresults.php One thing it will not provide you with is customer feedback or expert opinion from a neutral source. In offering my view and, in some cases, the view of past clients, I would agree that Baumatic offer stylish products at an affordable cost but they cannot be measured against the efficiency, build quality and innovation of some of their less affordable counterparts. Appliance comparisons provide the most obvious reason to believe that you do achieve cost effectiveness if you have a higher budget. For your financial outlay you are receiving a good value for money product with Baumatic but should your budget stretch further my recommendation would be different. Regards, Tim

Anonymous	I too have been eying up Baumatic appliances as, like may people, my budget is extremely tight and we have to make room for every cost that goes into installing a new kitchen. The only thing i will say refers less to my intimate knowledge of their appliances and relative performance against rival manufacturers and more to do with where they are made and basic economic principles. The Czech republic is an Eastern Europpean country of great beauty and sophistication who are finding their feet on the world stage after years of oppression under communist rule. The average wage over there is about £1-200 per month and so, put very simply, their costs are much lower compared to their Western European rivals and thus they can sell them more cheaply. Is their product subject to the same stringent levels of quality control as their more established Western European counterparts? I really dont know but, any reseller will offer comparable levels of warranty so and anything you buy in this country is equally protected by universal consumer laws, so in that respect, it may be worth taking the plunge. I for one am going to anyway!

swifty	One thing I will say about Baumatic is; if they break down in the warrantee period, they take approximately a week to 10 days to come out to look at them. And if the engineer B.E.R.s (beyond economic repair) the appliance, expect a long wait (a friend of mine had to wait 5 weeks for his washing machine to be replaced) To me, good after sales is important.

miles	I had Beaumatic gas hob, electric double oven in my last house with my EX!!! Never had a problem with these appliances, they must be at least 6yrs old now. In fact i wish i got my ex from Beaumatic!!
