Hi, hope someone

out there can help with our dilema! We have purchased and intergrated Fridge/Freezer and planned to build an island around it

- not sure how to achieve this though! We have bought from large UK store and have coloured board etc but no actual

instructions on how to build the thing!!

Jonesy,
Welcome to our forum.
Can you elaborate on this? An integrated fridge/freezer renders

that the doors would prevent an island being built around it.
If, as I think you mean, you plan to utilise it as part of an

island configuration, then this isn’t too difficult provided you have enough central space in your kitchen.
If, however,

all you mean, is how do I build a housing for it, then the aperture size will be aparent in the installation instructions and

all you have to then do is fill the remaining cupboard space with doors or drawers.
I guess we are pretty much in the dark

here until you convey your dilemna with a little more clarity.

Thanks

for your response. As a woman I appreciate it was a little vague!
We have purchased a kitchen for our open plan

living/dining area. We have a 600mm square pillar in the middle of the room – off which we intend to build the island. We

have purchased a seperate low level fridge & freezer – both 600mm which will have the matching door panels on them (hence

intergrated!!)

There is plenty of room for the island and we have the standard 2400mm x 900mm worktop to work with –

but the island will not be this big, we only wish to incorperate the f/f – nothing more.

Where would you suggest we

start??!!!

thanks

Jonesy,
To create

an island around the pillar would require greater than the 2400mm worksurface than you’ve purchased and would also render

joints inevitable.
You can create a peninsula surrounding two or three sides of the pillar, (This leaves a 150mm shelf each

side of the pillar or a 300 shelf if two sides are surrounded) This would leave 1800mm of surface available to house your

friudge and freezer. This is more than enough and all you require are the panels to support them. These must be spaced either

600mm apart or 1200mm apart dependant on whether you fit them side by side or seperately.

As for the design and

overcoming the exposed ends on the pillar, then you’ll have to brainstorm but you will come u with the finish that suits you

and that’s all that matters.

Tim.
