Been reading and enjoying this site for a long while and now have a question of my own! WooHoo… I’m making up a peninsular which will house 3 built-under appliances. I’m making the housings from 28mm end panels. My question is, the appliances all call for a 600mm opening. My appliance doors are 597mm wide. Does this mean that the appliances doors don’t fit against the frame, in the way normal doors do, but have a small, 2-3mm, gap all the way round? Thanks in advance Symo |

Can’t edit the post. I meant a 1 – 1.5mm gap all round! |

Thanks Tim, nice work there! Unfortunately, made to measure doors would cost a lot I guess? I’m building the carcases like this…
The uprights are 28mm end panel material. Im going to make the spacing at 599mm which is the least I can get away with and the doors are 597mm width. This will leave 1mm all round and give the door a fitted in look rather than fitted on, if you see what I mean? the peninsular is a fair way from any other units so I hope it will look OK? What do you think? Thanks Matt |

Thanks Tim. I’ll put some pics up when I’ve finished. Hoping to make a start this weekend but, you know how things go! Symo |

Tim, i’m not quite sure of what you mean in this instance. But in general perhaps, to help visualise your explanations, a few hand drawn sketches in plan, section or even isometric would help. Just a suggestion |
