Hello Tim,
I recently imported a mixer tap and plan to install this on my new sink.
I was wondering about the combination of mains pressure cold water and lower pressure hot water at the same tap. Will the higher presure cold water be forced down the hot pipework.

Should a check valve be fitted on the hot pipework to prevent this.

Trevor,

I suspect that may be the best policy but will bow to the better judgement of those who know best here. One surefire way of determining this is to contact the manufacturer who, I’m

sure, will have this information.

Hi Trev

It maybe too late but…

Fit single check valves to both hot and cold supplies.

This will prevent the cold pressurising the hot and under vacuum conditions the hot returning to the cold.
