(1) I’ve purchased a FAGOR s/steel 600mm chimney extractor, and want to use the exhaust extraction feature of it rather than carbon filters. The circle

diameter of the extraction hole is typically 4 inches, however, my model is infact about 4.7inches. My local DIY stores only stock the normal 4inch size which is too small.

Can anybody recommend a supplier of ducting kits that may fit my appliance?

(2) Regarding the mains connection for the extractor, the articles suggest a fused unit connection. Does that mean:

a) A “mains socket” styled box on the wall above the wall cabinets, which contains the fuse, linked to a normal mains socket beside it in to which I plug the extractor mains cable

via a normal mains plug?

b) A “mains socket” styled box on the wall above the wall cabinets, which contains the fuse, into which I connnect the extractor mains cable directly.

c) Other – please advise.

Appreicate any help.

Before answering this post it is an opportune time I feel to alert all visitors and members to the imminent changes about to take place with regard to electrical installations.
Part P regulations which will come into force in January 2005, renders, in much the same way as gas regulations do, that only an approved and accredited person undertakes electrical

installation in, among other applications, the home. To discover how to achieve an approved status the following website offers further details.

To answer your queries, it seems that you are referring to an extraction outlet of 125mm diameter as opposede to 100mm and these are available from diy warehouse outlets or a number

of specialists providers many of whom offer their producs over the internet. A google search should turn up one in your area.

Because of the style of chimney extractors I would suggest you install a connection unit within the chimney itself that is, in turn, fed from an accessible switched fused spur sited

in a location of your own preference providing it remains accessible for isolation purposes.

This may be on the wall above the worktop or inside a cupboard.
