We are currently in the process of renovating our kitchen. So far we have completed two walls including installing a hob unit (in an

existing hob connection point with isolation switch).

We have now come to installing the cooker unit and microwave. We have removed the old double oven unit and have found that the connection is straight to the back as normal from the

isolating switch. So, now the problem part.

We have bought a Neff B1451 single oven unit with a rating of 2.8kw and a Neff B77409 Quantum speed microwave combi oven with a rating of 3.6kw. Both units in the instructions say

they must have an isolation switch. The microwave has a standard three-pin plug for its connection. Presumably the oven has a similar connection system to the one we disconnected

from the old oven. (We haven’t looked yet as the oven is still in the packaging.)

So

how do we connect both units?

Do we need a separate feed from the fuse box for each unit (Oven and Microwave)?
Can we use the existing cable (with isolating switch) to connect both units?
If so how would we connect the microwave as it has a plug?
Can we use a cooker point that also has a three-pin plug connection, install it behind the microwave inside the cabinet, plug the microwave into plug connection then connect on to the

oven?

All in all confused.

Also the oven instructions state that to burn off the insulation and prior to installation, we have to heat the oven up. It doesn’t say for how long or at what temperature. Also, do

we stand the oven on the floor or can we put it on a workbench.

Pateman,

Welcome to the forum.

In short, yes, you can use a cooker point that also has a three-pin plug connection, plug the microwave into plug connection and connect the oven direct to the cooker point.

Try to achieve this in an adjacent cabinet in order to gain access for any future complications.

To remove the factory coating most manufacturers advise that you turn on the oven to full power for 40-50 mins. Refer to your instructions for the correct time and be sure to open

doors and windows as it will emit an irritating odour. This should be done after fitting to the cabinet.
