Hi Tim. Just registered with the forum though I have been looking around your site for some time in preparation for fitting my first kitchen and it’s been very useful so far! I have a question about solid wood worktops which I haven’t seen covered in any historic posts having trawled back a few pages. I know you’re not a fan of solid worktops but I know that you’re happy to answer questions on the subject! I’m about to fit the section of worktop which will have the sink inset into it, but I want to make sure I’m using the correct tools to cut out the necessary aperture. Obviously with laminate/chipboard worktops a jigsaw can be used, but I’m assuming solid wood would put up a bit of a fight if I attempted to do the same? I also want to ensure I don’t damage the worktop whilst cutting it so I’m hoping you may be able to give me some advice? Thanks in advance. Regards, Antony |

Antony, Thanks for the kind comments and welcome to our forum. covers more than the width of your jigsaw. Drill holes into each corner of the cutout to allow a jigsaw blade access to the cut. Use a downcutting blade at a steady pace ie, do not force the jigsaw. out as you would the worksurface. Good Luck, Tim. |
