Dear Tim and Forum it right. wall to the right are outside walls, the right wall has a large window on it, the wall to the left is an internal wall, and behind it is the downstairs cloakroom and the stairs go up facing the wall, now we are ripping out what we call an annoying badly designed 10yr old kitchen (thats how old the house is) and want to design one as we want it. me and my husband are poorly, he has three crushed vertebrae and he is constantly in pain, and he wants and i agree a higher worktop, and we thought of pull out drawers with baskets in so we can easily get to whatevers inside, without going on our knees, problem, we are fitting the kitchen outselves, well me and my friends and relatives, keith will help where he can but he cant do much, but here it is well we are trying to get as much worktop space as we can so we thought, we have bought a stoves ceramic hob, (i prefer electric) and we are going to get a single oven, we thought can we put the oven in an eye level housing unit to the left as u go into the kitchen on the wall which isnt an outside wall, do you have to vent or anything, do you have to have a special electric socket, or if that isnt allowed, would we be able to put it to the right of the door as you go in under the hob, it is up against the wall of the opening which is a door width, is it ok we thought about putting it there because it is electric and it doesnt matter with the window being there, we have no curtains, or anything, any help you could give us would be of enormous help to us |

Hi keefness I think I understand you problem so forgive me if I don’t quite get it right. I have just fitted my kitchen and have 900mm high units which give me a worktop height of 930mm which is great. cupboards. The hob and oven must be supplied by a seperate supply to the sockets with a 40 Amp fuse. This may determine where you put it as any electrical rewiring has to be done by a certified electrician as it is in the kitchen. stated health situation an eyelevel mounted oven may be best but this will reduce worktop space. I would avoid putting the hob in front of the window as this will create condensation problems and you will need to site the sink adjacent to the existing drain outlet I expect. Remember the rule of the golden triangle between the sink hob/oven and fridge. In specific answer to your question , yes you can place the oven pretty well anywhere inthe kichen. Magic corners also make the most of those awkward corner cupbords. Don’t be afraid to get two or three ‘free’ designs done by kitchen companies as these often give you good ideas. Good luck Jono |

Magic corners are baskets which fit in a corner base cupboard and pull out using a clever mechanism. thereby giving you increased access and storage. All the kitchen companies can provide them regards Jon |
