I am fitting a new kitchen for the first time and have a double built under oven that requires a housing that has an internal height of 710. Where can I get a unit for this oven please? IKEA is not tall enough, I was advised to buy one from B&Q but that isnt tall enough either around 690. Screwfix said theirs would not fit it.

Help!

Thanks

Andrew

Macondo,

Are you sure you require a housing? What is the make and model of your oven?

Hi Tim – There is an option to not have a housing in the instructions but: a) I dont have the rails b) I told it was better to have it in a housing, more solid, than hanging it on adjacent cabinets c) also I wonder about the oven overlapping adjacent units.

Its a Tecnics 8522.

Thanks

Andrew

Andrew,
As the manufacturers of built under ovens provide a guarantee for their installation and some offer longer guarantees than others, then providing it is installed to their instructions I do not foresee a problem with the issues you mention relating to bracket supports.
I have installed a number of these type ovens over the years and none have presented me with an issue on weight incapacity for this type of installation.
As for heat damage to adjacent cupboards again this will not be a problem given the insulation surrounding the oven.
In a nutshell, I advise you save yourself the cost of an unnecessay cabinet and fit the brackets.

Regards

Tim
