Hi everyone,

I live in the Thames Valley so a hard water area and am thinking about getting a filter tap that works via inline filter cartridges.

Does anyone have any experience of Astracast’s Springflow taps and if they work well?

Ben,
Sorry for the delay in responding here. We’ve had a few teething problems with our new forum hence the lack of posts recently but these are now, thankfully sorted out.
As you already know, having recently purchased a sink from us, we now offer the complete rabge of Astracast products direct on our website and a new website displaying the full range will shortly be uploaded.
Meantime, for the sake of other visitors wishing to purchase any of the Astracast range of sinks or taps, as with any of our products we wish to make them the most affordable in the UK so do let us know your pregferred model numbers and we will return a lesser cost than elsewhereDelivery is free to all UK mainland addresses but we can deliver anywhere in the British Isles albeit at an additional postage cost.
With regard to the Springflow in a hardwater area, I have requested that a technical representative from Astracast provides you with an expert answer and will post this when we have it.
One question I’d like to pose is, have you fitted a water softener to your premises?

Hi Tim,

I didnt think you could use a water softener with an inline drinking filter.

But yes a water softener is also on my list. Do you have any suggestions regarding a manufacturer?

Ben,
Below is the reply we have from Astracast and it appears you are correct with regard to water softeners.
Below this response I’ve included information about the Springflow taps forwarded frto me from Astracast and although most of it is offered in advertising blurb it is nevertheless reevant to your original question Ben.
Hope this helps
Tim

"In any property the cold water supply pipe to the kitchen sink should not be treated by a water softener and should only be the potable water as provided by the water company or through a water filter. The reason for this is that the water softener will require salt to be used during softening and replenishment of the filter which will take the water above the standard that is set by the regulations. Therefore the softener should not be used with our filter system to provide drinking water"
