ban-all-sheds

I’m planning a new kitchen, and will be having a freestanding cooker rather than built-in units.

There will be worktops either side of it, and I’m wondering how to (or if I should :? ) seal the gaps between the cooker and the worktops. It would need to be something semi-permanent (e.g. flexible silicone?) that could be unstuck and replaced so that the cooker could be pulled out if necessary for maintenance.

I’m keen to seal the gaps if I can, as I know from experience that no matter how careful one is, stuff will spill down the sides of the cooker and adjacent base units…

Any thoughts?

Ban-all-sheds,

It’s been a long time, hope you’re well and business is good.

This is an interesting query and one that perhaps leads to some invention given the obvious issue of two dirt traps each side of a frestanding cooker.

Maybe something of a similar profile to a double glazing seal in a range of finishes would be the answer but there remains the question of any material used being subject to governing and manufacturers regulations.

Boiler case single side adhesive foam would prove suitable but without a suitably finished outer coat it wouldn’t provide the aesthetics required in a kitchen design.

Mmmm!! Something to brainstorm on here at least.

Tim
