Hi,

I am planning to install a range cooker into a chimney breast opening and I wondered if there is a standard height for the opening? Or is it purely down to personal preference and

structural issues? What would you recommend as the minimum distance above the hob?

Thanks.

Dave,

This will be detailed in the manufacturers instructions for your Range cooker and may vary slightly between manufacturers. If however you do not have instructions then 780mm above the

hotplates is the default clearance to achieve.

For example if the finished height of your cooker is 920mm then 1700mm + to the underside of the opening, allowing for the extractor guage, is the minimum height required. This will

of course be less if the manufacturers recommended clearance is less than 780mm.
