Hi, I am new here, and I am desperately hoping that somebody can help me. We have recently moved house. I realised that the oven door was a little off centre, so I tried to reallign it, but something went terribly wrong… I ended up unhinging the oven door completely on the one side. It is a Terim electrical single under counter oven. I have tried everywhere to find advice as to how to “re-hinge” the door again. I had a handy man come and look at the oven, and he admitted that he doesn’t really know a lot about ovens and suggested buying a new oven. Given the expense that this would be, considering that we have just used up all our savings to pay deposits and costs for this house.. I see no clear way in doing this right now. Could anybody please help me with instructions to put the oven door back on. AND if I cannot re-hinge the door, would I be able to do the wiring on a new oven? Is it simple enough? |

Hi Bean and welcome to the forum, It appears to me that you haven’t broken the door or hinge, it just takes a knack and some patience to refit it. The hinges are spring activated and will have retracted when you lifted it to re-align. It may be better to remove the attched side again by lifing the door. Remember the location of the hinge before removal though. This will serve you well before refitting. To re-fit you must hold the door in the open position and at the same time force open the hinges which is a little tricky but achievable. Locate the hinges into their housing until they are locked in position. I hope you are a tolerant person because this can sometimes drive you crazy and the air may turn blue so make sure the kids are out of earshot. Good luck and let us know how you go on. |

Hi Bean, and Tim, I too am new to this forum; I joined it specifically for the same problem that Bean had; Basically my mother-in-law thought it was a good idea to clean the oven, and accidentally pulled one of the hinges out. I will have a go at your suggestion Tim, and get back to you. Bean, did you have any luck with trying the suggestion? Cheers, Kamal |

Nice one Tim, my mum’s oven has had this problem for ages, must be common up and down the country! I’ll give it a try over the weekend, hopefully then she’ll stop chewing my ear off everytime I go over! Cheers |

I have just had a attempt at this. Unfortunately I could not pull the other hinge out. I wasn’t sure how hard it needed to be pulled. already out has sprung shut; Any tips on opening it, so as to make it easier to reinstate the hinge. I will have another go once I have calmed down…. Cheers, and good luck to anyone else trying this at home….. Regards, Kamal |

I finally managed to reinstate the hinge. I did not have remove the opposite hinge. The hinges on my oven door (Neff) have a little clip on them; I had to push forward the hinge as much as possible and pull the clip backward so that the hinge did not spring back. Then I reinstated the hinge and and pushed the clip back into its original place. Very fiddly. Be careful of the hinge springing back onto your fingers. Good luck…….. Kamal |
