I have succesfully practised on my old 600mm depth worktops with a jig set for 600mm. And it has just occured to me that my new Ikea wortops are a depth of 606mm! My jig, from B&Q, allows only has peg holes for 600 and 616. Would I be best hiring a new jig or is there a way of making this one work? Maybe using the 616 hole and putting a 10mm think plank in between? (I hope I don’t sound too crazy). |

Ahhhh….if only I had read things more closely. Thank you, Tim. I have already done one of the joints using a similar technique to what I said I would try. I spent half a day building a wedge of wood the right size to attach to the 616 peg. And it worked okay. I was probably a mm out on the depth but the fit is good and the 1 mil will be covered by the tiles. I’ll try out your technique on the next joint. Thank you for a great article. I could not have done the job without it. And I love the tip about using sawdust in the crack. It just faded away before my eyes. |
