I recently bought a built

under Teba oven, Ref: SOVS60 (AC2004-01C). On the first page of the guide it says to ensure that the top edge of the cut out made for fitting the oven has a minimum distance of 75mm

to the work-top/surface above it. I have no idea what this means. What is meant by “cut-out”? If there’s a minimum distance the oven must be installed from the worktop is this

measured from the top of the body of the oven or the top of the control panel. If you can imagine the oven is a cube (which is the main body of the oven) and the workings of the

controls are contained in an oblong box sitting on this cube. I have e-mailed their technical support (about 2 weeks ago – no response as yet) and called the help-line and spoke to

someone who had no idea what I was talking about but told me that the 75mm should be 50mm, so am really frustrated at this stage.
I am installing my oven below a solid beech worktop and into a standard B&Q oven cabintet, so aesthetically the control panel of the oven should be right under the worktop, not

75mm (or 50mm) down from it. Surely the required distance from a worktop should be measured from the main body of the oven – i.e. the bit that gets hot? Is there a standard or would

this vary between appliances? Can you clear this up for me?? I look forward to your response.

I am assuming that this means that the main body of the cooker that sits into the aperture requires a clearance of 75mm to the underside of the worktop and this is normally

compensated for by the design of most single ovens which are configured in such a way that allows for the fitting of most hobs. I can’t see Teba being any different and if proof of

this is required then I expect it would be reflected in the designs on display at the showrooms.

Two weeks without a response is unacceptable and a technical helpline cannot be described as one without expert advice and knowledge of the product.
Teba are a Turkish exporter of budget range appliances to a number of UK stores such as Comet and B&Q.

My opinion is pretty well documented in that certain companies offer you the service you pay for including an efficient after sales and support service.
