Hi, can you

help me with a problem I have? I need to fit

an oak worktop in an L shape. I’ve looked through previous questions in

the forum and appreciate you’re not a great fan of taking solid wood round corners. It has to be done

however.

Looking at the replies to a similar question from 29th Dec 03 it is clear that I forget using my template jig and router

as I would for laminate and that I should butt the joint, use

silicone and bolt together using standard worktop bolts.

What I don’t understand, however, is what I do with the slightly proformed edge on the worktop – not as pronounced as on a

laminate top but there is still a slight round to the edge which prevents the end of one length butting up directly to

the face of the other length. I can’t see a way round this

without making some kind of mitre, even if only a 3mm

mitre.
I hope I’ve explained this okay. Excellent site by the way.

Mike,

Welcome to the forum and sorry for my delay in responding here.
No reason for not

using your template and router whatsoever, and I’ve looked for the post that suggests otherwise with no joy.
Using the

router and jig as normal will maintan the post form and not all wood tops are manufactured like this hence my advice not to if

you don’t have to.
Hope this clarifies things for you.

Tim
