HI all

My first post.

My new kitchen is arriving next week and I will be fitting it myself. A query about fitting the handles please.
Handles will all be 320mm cc stainless horizontal chunky D bar.
I’ve fitted these before on IKEA Adel birch units and would like a bit of advice before I venture forth on 20 + doors. I think I’ll have to make up my own template for them as I cant seen to buy anything online.

I normally use a Bosch Cordless drill and relevant wood bit but have found that the wood splinters sometimes when bit comes through onto the inside. Any advice. Also a bit worried about the drill slipping on my nice new shiny doors although I always start the hole with a dowel first.
Any advice gratefully received.

Many thanks

To start the drill bit correctly use masking tape to mark out the handle, gently tap a small tack with a pin hammer on to each hole mark. This will stop your drill bit wandering over the new door.
To avoid splinters hold a wooden block tight against the rear of the door until the drill bit comes through. Be careful not to drill right through the protection block or you may drill through your palm. Best to hold it from a distance to avoid this,

Tim
