Tim, Are splashbacks, just thin sheet cut and then glued etc on to the wall surface? I was wondering on the thickness, as I only have a small gap between the wall, and the back of my tap? Cheers, Des. |

Des, You’ve raised a good point here and it causes confusion for many people wishing to install stainless steel splashbacks. Although you could install the sheet itself I would always advise that it is formed over a 9-12mm core sheet of MDF board for two reasons, 1. Aesthetically your profiles and visible edges will look far neater and adhereing a board to the wall will prove more efficient. 2. The board will make allowances for any uneveness in the wall surface when fixing. An undulating surface of stainless steel sheet will stand out like a sore thumb once the light hits it. Unfortunately the gaps between the back of a hob and a sink to the wall surface will present the same problem for cleaning in most kitchens until it is addressed by some type of maintenance free innovation. |
