glitch

Hi

there,

I’ve recently just fitted a new kitchen in a flat in sheltered accommodation. The previous sink had 2 pillar

taps for hot & cold water, and i have replaced this with a sink with

just one tap which is a mixer and came as a

pack. However the hot water pressure has reduced quite a bit, even when only the hot water is turned on, and i need the

cheapest solution

to remedy this.
The hot water itself comes from an electric heated cylinder tank which is only 6

or 7 feet above the tap, and runs through 15mm pipes. As you can imagine the pressure wasn’t amazing

before the sink

change, but it was better than it is now. The tap is connected to the pipework via flexible pipes, which i guess means that

the diamater inside the flexi-pipe is less

than 15mm and thus reducing pressure further. I have been in touch with the

tap manufacturer and they inform me that the particular type of tap is of the low pressure variety. They

suggest that

i may be able to get hold of a more basic low pressure tap. Has anyone come across this problem before and does anyone know

the solution?

Glitch,

Welcome to the forum and as I’m loathe to seeing no

replies next to a post I am sorry for the delay in responding.

One solution is to raise the height of your cylinder to

increase the pressure. Granted this is not a cheap solution but it will, nevertheless, improve performance. The reason for the

decrease in pressure is the higher outlet of your mixer tap which will significantly reduce what was already a low

pressure outlet.

Hope this helps
