Hi

I am reinstalling a kitchen and have some bits that I am not sure how to use. One is a Mounting Plate For Cabinet Hanging Bracket which can be seen at

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro … 8&id=14309

I have two of these. How are they used and is it necessary to use them?

Thanks.

Purpleski,

These are essential as they support your wall cabinet. They are fixed directly to the wall using at least size 50mm x 10 guage screws, (dependant on your wall type).
To determine where to put them you must first indentify the height from the top of the cabinet that your cabinet hanger hooks over the mounting plate. To do this offer the mounting

plate up to the hooks on the hanger till it sits fully in the recess of the plate.
Now measure down to the holes from the top of the cabinet and transfer this measurement to the wall.
Make sure that you mark the width of the cabihet to the wall and from each side mark a vertical line 20mm in to compensate for the cabinet width,(normally 18/19mm).
Fix both brackets and hang the cabinet, adjust lateral and vertical levels of the cabinet with a screwdriver on the hanging bracket.
Ensure the cabinet is plumb and level and repeat for adjacent cabinets.

Thanks for that but can I clarify what hooks over

these. Is there something that should be attached to the cabinet? What does it look like? I have a couple of things with an adjusting screw coming out of it.

Thanks.

Yes. This is your cabinet hanger and comes in a variety of

styles such as concealed whereby it attaches to the rear of the wall unit and access to the adjustment screws is via one or two small holes through the front of the cabinet. More

numerous however, are the plastic type that fix to each gable and reveal just the metal hook on the rear of the cabinet.
What they do have in common is that they both utilise the same mounting plate.

The metal hooks, or prongs to be more precise, are located into the recess of the mounting plate before adjustment can take place.
Determine where to fix the bracket by pre-measuring the distance to the mounting plate before fitting to the wall. The height will vary for different types of cabinet hangers.
