Jacky,

Welcome to the forum.

The housing should be constructed from melamine faced chipboard to remain in keeping with the rest of your kitchen. 9The majority of european cabinetry is manufactured this way)
That isn’t to say that he cannot use MDF or plywood but the important factor is that it is constructed to the correct width and aperture height for the oven.
The configuration should also take into account the door sizes available for the design you choose.
Allowance for the free flow of air may be detailed in the manufacturers instructions and should be accommodated for when installing with a vent integrated to the plinth.

Jacky,

We men tend to come up with things such as that when we want to delay the inevitable diy chores and I’ve failed many a time with the same kind of tactic.
I’m not suggesting for a minute that this is the case here but if it was then my name will be mud in your house for letting the side down.
Never mind though, I suppose I played some part in your own victory and can only imagine the eagerness with which you rushed to inform him that a further delay wasn’t now necessary.
