Margaret

At present I have a freestanding microwave sited behind a lift up door.
The space it sits in was specified by

kitchen manufacturer at time of fitting. I would now like to change my present microwave for a combination model of exactly

the same dimensions.

The space in which it sits is 57cm wide x 48cm high x 60cm deep, and the combination microwave I

wish to purchase is 51cm wide x 30.4cm high x 38cm deep.

I am wondering if it is possible to make the change as

obviously in conventional oven or grill mode the combination oven will run hotter than in purely microwave mode.

I

would be grateful for your advice on this matter.

Margaret,

You need

to discover whether the manufacturer makes a build-in kit for the model you require. Secondly, you would be extremely

fortunate if the build-in kit perfectly matches the height of your existing aperture and some adaptation may be required such

as an additional matching filler or the reduction in height, of a door or drawer front.
Successfully achieving this is. of

course, dependent on your door design and the width factor isn’t so critical as 600mm housings are the most popular location

for most microwaves with a build-in kit.
