Hi All,

I’m looking at replacing my kitchen & have been looking around the usual shops & sites so source kitchen Units.

Problem I’ve discovered after measuring up is that my galley kitchen is very narrow & I can’t use 570mm or 600mm deep Units as they project out to much & would stop the

Exterior door to the garden from opening fully.

The existing Units are 500 mm deep, & i’m looking for replacements.
Anyone know of any companies that still do units to this measurement or am I looking at custom build?

Thanks in advance, Steve

Steve,

Welcome,

It isn’t too difficult to reduce the depth of your units and I don’t see a problem with this being achieved on site by your installer or by the manufacturer prior to delivery. It’s

a commonplace issue that can be addressed by any manufacturer and all you need do is alert them to it.

I’m sure you won’t find any problems with your chosen supplier accommodating this for you.

Thanks for the info Tim,

I was planning on doing the install myself as it’s a fairly small & simple galley kitchen.
I’ll have to see if the units can be simply modded with the tools & skills that i have.
Would i be right in assuming that I’d shave off the extra amount from the void space at the back of the units?

If you’re really pushed for space between then why not consider installing wall units as base units and adapting them with battens to

accomodate plinth, providing they are a similar door size.

Otherwise, if you need greater depth then you can cut down the gables to a required depth and reinstall the back.

The luxury of the correct tools is a big factor in achieving this but it can be achieved with a circular saw instead of a flip over or bench saw.

Another option of course may be to hire the tools for the duration of the work
