Donard

I am

a non kitchen professional, an owner of a

flat in London. I intend to make major renovations to the kitchen, which

will include replacing the existing sink.

At the moment I am in Canada, and am able to get, for free, a double sink

which is about 10 years old, and has been removed from a flat here. It is in pretty good condition and I am

wondering

about bringing it back to the UK to use in my flat. I will be getting the work done professionally.

However, I am

unsure if Canadian standards are the same as the UK, and whether the drain connections would work or be incompatible. There

are three holes for taps. There are no

overflow outlets. The sink is made by Kinderd and is called a Steel

Queen.

So I would appreciate any advice as to whether this sink would be usable in London. Thanks.

Donard,

Welcome to the forum. The manufacturer you speak of is

called Kindred and their most famous brand is the Steel Queen. I have to say that I’m uncertain as to it’s suitability in

the

UK and I suspect you may get more information from your local Water Authority. The reason I say this is that,

unlike UK sinks, American sinks have no overflow facility, a regulation

to stop the growth of bacteria in the overflow

area.
I doubt that the drain connection would pose a problem and the third hole could be utilised for a filtered

tap.

Sorry I am unable to assist further on this but I think a call to the regulators in your area will determine it’s

suitability or not as the case may be.
