    Hi!
I’ve recently moved house and I am now beginning to look around, with a view to changing out the existing kitchen.
From what I have seen so far, it is quite easy to mix and match units, doors, accessories, etc among most of the popular names, so allowing a more individual finish.
Trouble for me is, I looked at the Continental range, at John Lewis, with the Felisa type flush doors. This has just the look I’d like, but as I’m also extending and reshaping the kitchen, it becomes a little cost prohibitive! I’m looking at approx 35 – 40 units!
I’ve searched everywhere, but cannot find anything similar to the JL range, but at a more competative price.
Does anyone on here have any ideas of places I may like to consider?

    Paul,
There are a great many door manufacturers out there and among them are the more unsung smaller manufacturers who could provide a tailored offering.
Generally you will discover that the finishes offered by the big stores such as John Lewis, are provided them by a door manufacturer who also provides a number of other retailers.

It is of course in the interests of John Lewis and other large stores, to re-brand them so a bit of detective work is first required to discover who the manufacturer is.

With John Lewis this is certainly the case with their worktop offerings and a surface we offer here, Luxore, is re-branded to their in store buyers.

That’s not the end of the story however, and the aim is to identify the door you want from a quality provider and at a more affordable cost elsewhere.
Perhaps one of our retailer colleagues on Twitter can shed some light on this and determine whether you can source the finish you require from another quality retailer who may offer it at a more affordable cost to you so I will post a link to the post on our Twitter account and we’ll see if this helps in your quest.

The supplier might be Mereway – they certainly supply some of the John Lewis kitchens – but I doubt if going to one of their Cucina Colore retailers would be any cheaper.

There are loads of cheaper handleless doors around – but that streamlined look with a continuous aluminium strip behind the doors/drawer fronts isn’t a standard UK style. Most of the less expensive doors have self coloured handle grooves. The only one I know, that might fit the bill, is Crown Imperial’s Furore Handle-less. You can contact them for local retailers.

Thanks for your input guys… Much appreciated.
I have seen similar doors in some outlets, but I also like the way the wall unit doors open. Seems to be held on a magnet, and rise up and open when the door is pressed…

Oh well – that bit’s no problem Paul – they probably use Blum’s servo-drive system which can be fitted to almost any kitchen range (as long as it has the bi-fold door arrangement): http://www.blum.com/us/en/01/20/60/index.php

Of course, it’s not cheap …

Nice!… But not even JL’s kitchens are that techy!
No electrics on the John Lewis door mechanisms, just a magnetic type release, then, as they’re the poor man’s option, you have to close them manually!…
