Hi all,

Is no one concerned about the weight of granite worktops. Over 100KG for a 2m length, compared to 33kg for laminate. Remedial work behind a cabinet in an emergency becomes a major headache. does this not bother anyone who has it installed. I was considering granite as a worktop but this one issue keeps putting me off. I wonder how many people who have had this installed actually realise what it weighs and the implications if theres a leaky pipe.

I guess there are many people who have had to overcome this issue Moe and speaking from experience, accessing and repairing a leak behind any cabinet regardless of what tops are fitted is difficult but always possible without removal of the worktops.
A greater concern is the damage a leak would cause to the sink cabinet base.
Now replacing that would prove even more costly as in most cases it would require the removal of the tops.
