Hi

I have had wooden kitchen

carcases fitted which have 18mm solid tops and will be having a granite worktop fitted on top of the units.

A Franke

undermount sink has been fitted into the sink base unit but the lip of the sink sits about 1mm proud of the top of the sink

unit (the lip is about 25mm wide).

The granite templater says that the lip of the undermount sink should be flush not

proud of the top of the carcase. Is this right? And, if so, would the best way of cutting a 1mm rebate be with a router or

should I just rasp it out?

Many thanks

KM

Km,

Welcome to our forum

and I hope you find it of some use in your quest for culinary alterations.
Wow! I’m beginning to sound like Del Boy.

Sorry.

In answer to your question, it is better to route out the 1mm depth required but another alternative that seems

to have eluded your granite provider is to cut out an aperture in your cabinet top large than and sufficient to accommodate

your sink size and for the granite fabricator to install the sink securely to the granite using the fixing bolts and clips

that are provided with the majority of undermount sinks.

Tim.
