Hello all, forum and your articles invaluable whilst fitting my kitchen. top!!!! sitting in situ upon the units, I can only gain access to one of the three bolt holes to tighten the bolts. want to go cutting holes in thebase units as they are only, mass marketed ones from the local DIY superstore, the one with the orange and green coloured identity. perfect fit, I now have to marry the two length up to this one using male joints. bolts will be appreciated, as I am on the home straight now and cant wait to get finished. |

Jane, Thanks for joining the forum and for your kind words of praise. the two bolts you are unable to gain access to are the front and rear bolts and you have no choice Jane other than to cut out the rear and back rails in the relevant positions. position of bolts to each rail and this will allow you access. and if you cut only what is necessary it will not weken the unit too much. Use silicone sealant and although the position you will be in when tightening the bolts calls for all your contortionist powers you will end up with a great joint if you check the joint is aligned correctly whilst tightening up. Any deviation of levels once tight can be rectified using a small offcut of melamine and tapping with a hammer to ensure eveness. Good luck and let us know how you go on with this, Tim. |
