Does anyone have any

suggestions regarding fixing units to aerated concrete block walls? I’ve ordered Lightweight Block Anchors from Screwfix as they were the only items I could find that referred

directly to this type of walling material. I’d be interested to hear if anyone has any experience of using these or any other alternatives.
Thanks

Steve

Steve,

Having looked at the product I think my best advice would be to contact screwfix and ask for a technical advisor to tell you the maximum weight these fixings will bear.

Personally I am dubious that such a fitting will be sufficient to hold a wall cupboard and I would be much happier using a heavy duty style anchor even if it meant some adaptation to

accommodate a wall unit hanging bracket.

Keep us updated on the response you receive.

I’ve now used these fixings and in my opinion these glass-filled nylon anchors are absolutely phenomenal. Appearances can be deceptive and it’s certainly the case with these.
The quoted pullout figures are:

Screw Size, Penetration, Block Density(475kg/m3), Block Density(650Kg/m3
No.6, 35mm, 83Kg, 120Kg
No.8, 35mm, 96Kg, 190Kg
No.10, 35mm, 120Kg, 200Kg
No.12, 35mm, 170Kg, 270Kg
No.10, 50mm, 120Kg, 280Kg

I’ve seen nothing to suggest that these figures are anything other than accurate & can wholeheartedly recommend them. I’ve total peace of mind that my units aren’t going to

move at all.

Steve,

Thanks for providing this extremely useful info that will, no doubt, be acted upon by others in a similar position.

The good thing here is that the weights are detailed by the manufacturer and so one expects they will prove capable.
