Hi,

Do you advise tiling ontop of existing wall tiles rather than removing the old ones first?
If so how do you cater for light switches, power sockets etc as they will need to be extended outwards to fit ontop of new tiles.?

Any good tips on getting best results for this job especially setting out and inside windows?

PS just found web site which looks really impressive.
Cheers

Rick

Welcome to the forum Rich and thanks for the kind words.

Shouldn’t prove a problem if you coat Polybond on the existing tiles before applying the new ones. A hollow noise when the tiles are tapped indicates that your plaster work is in

poor condition and invariably you will need to replaster when removing old tiles. Although it means more work and expense I personally, would opt to do this but only because I’m

never in favour of shirking the extra work in order to do the job right.
If you do choose to tile over existing tiles then you will require deeper socket screws for all sockets and switches and another consideration is the border, if visible will be wider

and so, less aesthetic.

My advice – remove the tiles and replaster if necessary.
