Hi – top forum – no doubt I’ll be coming back in the

future for help!

I’m just about to start on my first DIY kitchen project! I’ve got a partition wall in my kitchen

which isn’t your usual stud wall. It’s made from what appears to be 3 plasterboard sheets that are sandwiched together.

The house was built in 1988 and is your typical Barrat type affair with crumbling original kitchen at the moment.

I’m

worried whether or not this partition will take wall units when I install them? There weren’t any installed on this wall

when the original kitchen was fitted, but I want to use wall cabinets to make more use of the space available. The wall is

56mm thick and i’ve had a poke around with a small drill bit but there doesn’t appear to be any studs – only at the

extremities is there any timber framework.

Would metal ready-drivers be suitable to screw the wall plates on to for the

adjustable hangers? Any help/advice on whether these would be suitable, or what else I could do to get my wall units hanging

safely would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Rob

Rob,

The best soltion

to your problem would appaer to be a spring toggle which will provide you with a heavy duty cavity fixing in a length to suit

your needs.
Just type sring toggle bolts, uk into a google search and you;ll be up and running.
Good luck

Tim.
