I wonder if anyone can advise me please.

I am planning my new kitchen and would very much like to use Corian worktops. My question is, can self assembly,ie., Ikea carcasses, withstand the weight of solid worktops?

Would I have to get solid wood units?

Thanks in advance

Nicky,

Welcome to the forum.

Self assembly units differ from most rigid units only in their title and there should be no reason other than poor quality and fixings, why they can’t support solid worktops.

In areas that that are unsupported ie. spanning appliance apertures, you should install supporting brackets to support the tops but this applies to both rigid and flat pack

carcasses.

Thank you. That’s very helpful, and a relief to the

bank balance! :)
