I really love the look of granite but have now reluctantly decided its outside my budget. I have been offered a choice of the following tops which are a bit “different” from the ordinary laminated worktops which are called Artis bohemia – they have a factory applied edging, and Getacore which is a corian look-a-like but cheaper. Has anyone any experience of either of these two materials re-durability, scratch resistance etc. Also, I have been told that I will be restricted in terms of design if I go for the Artis bohemia as they only supply lengths with three finished sides (so breakfront features etc are limited as fitters cannot apply the edgings as they do with laminate tops) does anyone know anything about this? Thanks |

Both the tops you mention are inferior in quality to solid surfaces and again cost effectiveness should play a role in any decision you make unless you plan to sell up soon. There are no substitutes for solid surface worktops and any copycat designs are an expensive immitation of the real thing. Granite suppliers are now aplenty and this is good news for the consumer as they will vary in cost. I would investigate a little more and contact a number of suppliers to achieve best cost but be sure to utilise a company who have a good track record in worktop installation because a number of suppliers are not from a kitchen related background. |
