Expensive look without the budget

I have seen several Stoneham kitchens in magazines that I have really loved but unless I win the lottery they are way outside my price range.

I have heard comments on Property Ladder and similar programmes that you can make a cheaper kitchen look expensive. we are building a new house and I would like the kitchen to have a bit of a wow factor.

I have no real idea how much kitchens cost so ...

Dividing wall material (behind cooker)

Hello all,

This should be easy enough for someone in the know.

I plan to build a wall in my kitchen so I can install a new fitted kitchen and move my cooker into open space.

My question is - can I build this wall from MDF of does it need to be some kind of fire retardant material?

I have shown the wall on this picture highlighted in green. http://www.flickr.com/gp/8433476@N08/0VJE69 ...

under-counter fridge/freezer question.

Hi all

New kitchen coming this week, including door fronts for Neff undercounter fridge and freezer units. Although all the units will have a very heavy quartz worktop I'm just wondering what will stop the undercounter appliances moving slightly as they are not housed within units.
Both appliances will be situated between other carcasses but obviously they are not screwed back to the wall or housed within a unit.
I note that both appliances come ...

Infill panels and end panels - cost

Hi,
Is it normal to be asked to pay 120 pounds plus VAT each for Schuller infill panels (tall with gloss finish) and end panels (with gloss finish)? As far as I can tell, these are merely panels of HDF or MDF.
This pricing seems excessive, even by today's standards.
I would very much welcome any comments.
Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone with their projects.

new kitchen design

Hi, we are planning a new kitchen with an island unit (just units, no services to it). We are also replacing the floor in the whole of the kitchen. I would have thought the best thing would be to lay the flooring (laminate, suitable for kitchens) across the whole of the floor, i.e. under the perimeter base units. But should it go under the island unit as well?
