Scratch resistance - Corian

I'm planning on glacier white Corian worktops for the new kitchen but have been advised not to consider such a plain colour as in a very little time every mark & scratch will be glaringly obvious.

I know it's not scratch proof but do you have to treat it with kid gloves? I'd be grateful if anyone with this surface can comment on how easily it is scratched in normal use and just how obvious ...

Deeper downturn - Corian

Hello,

I believe standard Corian worktops are 13mm of Corian on a 25mm backing. With a deeper downturn to make the worktop look say 60mm deep is the backing increased to 47mm thick? I'm also wondering what impact this has on fitting an induction hob.

Thanks,

Gavin

avonite versus corian

Hi there

I was going to use corian for both worktop surfaces in my new kitchen. I then discovered Avonite - specifically 'antique glass'. I can find very few fabricators who are willing to use avonite and they seem to charge a lot more than for corian even though i have been told that avonite is cheaper. Lots of fabricators say that avonite is a inferior product and more brittle than corian. Is this true? ...

Quartz and Solid Surface Worktops - Manufacturers Survey

Just to alert all our visitors to the recent survey we undertook which posed important questions to those who manufacture the Quartz and Solid Surfaces we sell here at TFI.
We invited leading manufacturers such as Corian, Silestone, Compac, Caesarstone, Apollo and HiMacs to participate.
Before making a decision I woud suggest you read the answers that the glossy adverts don't provide but which are of greater interest to you, the buyer. Remember, to obtain ...

Luxore work surface

Hi

I have Luxore work surface, just over two years old. I chose it because of it's beauty but more importantly it's durability as per product information.

It has chipped badly twice, the last time a 3/4 inch chip when a glass was knocked over. The fall was slowed down by an attempt to catch it and the glass only broke from the stem but did not shatter. A friend was with us and none ...
