I am looking for some assistance on the split-level I have just purchased. Here is a photo of the kitchen:

We have replaced all of the appliances with stainless steel and I am accenting with a bright green.
Unfortunately, I have to keep the cabinets and the backsplash, but I am wondering what I can do (paint-wise) to the backsplash. I would like to lighten it up, but I don't know if I should paint it a solid color. Any ideas?

Hi Woody,

I think I'd probably paint the units in a pale colour and leave the tiles as they are. Painted kitchens are very popular at the moment and that would lighten the kitchen up the most. I don't think tile paint ever looks really good and it tends to chip and peel off.

If you do decide to paint the tiles, I'd ideally go for slightly different shades - say three shades of the same colour - although I don't now what colours are available in tile paint - haven't looked for some time.
