Hi Tim,

What a great website for any Diy man intending to fit his/her own kitchen!!

I intend to buy a magnet kitchen in the near future and install it myself, have you had any experience of these?

I also plan to fit a stone tile floor throughout the kitchen and install the carcases ontop of this, is this common practice?

You mention in your install series, to clamp the two units either side of the oven housing to keep them flush, is this because the oven housing cannot be fitted until the oven is

actually in it i.e. side access to the oven housing is required.

Lastly Magnet say they will not provide any templates for cutting the worktops do you know where i could get these...

Thanks for a great website ..

DIY fitting kitchens

Hi Chris
The reason you clamp your units together is just so you can hold them flush whilst you screw them together,in the case of the oven housing you screw the units either side of

the oven housing from inside the oven housing itself as these screws wont be seen once the oven is in place.
The worktop template (jig) is a exspensive piece of kit to buy for the diy person they retail for about £100 upwards but i have recentley seen ones made out of a fiber board material

and they are around £30 , they are the same as the proffesional ones in every other way though.just remember to cut from left to right working from the preformed edge of the

worktop, this is a must otherwise you will just take a big chunk out of the preformed edge. With regards to fitting your floor it is good practice to tile undeneath the units but you

can just tile up to the unit legs once the kitchen is installed it is all down to cost
hope this is of help
