worktops

could someone please tell me what is generally the best way to fit worktops that end (last 600mm of fitting) over a free standing appliance?

Tim series of advice does not cover this and i am already presuming that the base cabinets provide the fixing and support for the rest of the worktop..?

Is it possiblt to fix a batten on the wall at the end of the run( where it is isnt supported) at the same height as the the cabinets?

any body had any experience with Magnet stuff? comments would be appreciated!

Hi Chris
yes the best way is to fix a batton to the wall i usually use a length of plinth ripped down to 50mm wide and about 570mm long and i usually put a 45 deg angle on the end

just for cosmetic purpose.If the worktop doesnt run all the up to the wall you will have to use a "custom fit end panel"and just fix this to the top and the floor with small 90 deg

In some

instances a batton creates a barrier to your appliance sitting flush with the front of your cabinets, particularly in the case of dishwashers and washing machines.
In this instance it is better to support the span of worktop using one or two metal angle brackets to the rear wall.
Paul's advice to utilise an end panel is important and I would never advocate the use of an unsupported worktop end that relies on the rear fixings alone.
