Hi Jonathan,
As we have tried explained to you on the phone the situation is as follows.
You have bought a licence to use ArtiCAD-Pro. This licence is registered to you and is non transferrable. It states in our licence agreement that you are not permitted to sell this licence.
However, we understand that you wanted to sell the licence so we explained to you that should the third party wish to become registered with us as the licence holder, there is a registration fee (licence transfer fee) of £1200. This will be paid by the new licensee not yourself.
This will then entitle the new licensee to access our technical support team, updates to the software, free graphics downloads, access to the members area of the website, a days training etc..
This situation does not arise very often and on those rare occasions where it has, we've found that the new licensee has been happy to pay ArtiCAD's re-licence fee to secure all of the above benefits. It is better that we give such an opportunity rather than alienate the new purchaser by not allowing them any path to take advantage of such services. The purchase of your licence as opposed to that organisation buying from us directly means that ArtiCAD has foregone the current licence fee of £3495 + VAT and only benefits from the £1200 + VAT re-licence fee. The arrangement that we provide allows both you and your potential buyer to gain some benefit and ArtiCAD to also gain some benefit. As stated, this is rare and we aim to present a solution to the satisfaction of all parties concerned.
I hope this clarification helps you. I would also like to mention that this position also discourages the theft of licences from our customers.
