Re-using Corian worktop

Hello,

I found this forum and it seems to be a very useful source of information.

As for my query, we moved into a new house about 6 months ago and are wanting to change the kitchen. What was fitted were Haecker units but we want to replace them as the colour is not great and some of them are damaged. The work surface however is corian, and is in reasonably good state and was fitted in about 2001. The shape is effectively a U shape with a built in corian sink. The real query is whether it is practical to lift the work surface and refit it once the new cablnets have been fitted. I am guessing it would need to be cut out as the runs on the worktop are about 2ms on the legs on the U and 4m on the bottom of it. Obviously it would need to be re-jointed and we do have a curved breakfast bar that we are removing that could be used if needed to patch anything.

Is this a sensible thing or just ditch everything and buy new.

Patrck,
So sorry for making you wait so long for my thoughts on this but we've had a busy restart to the New Year and I've been sidelined on more urgent matters.
Ok, your Corian was first fitted in 2001 so there may be some colour difference if it were to be integrated with a new surface in any refurbishment process, providing of course that the colour you have is not discontinued.
If however you feel there is more than enough to make this possible then colour wouldn't prove an issue.
My best advice here would be to locate a Corian approved network repairer and if possible send him/her some images so that they can ascertain the scope of work you require.
You can obtain details of approved repairers via the Corian UK website.
Unfortunately we don't offer repair work in our portfolio of services and undertake only new installations
Good Luck
