Steve,
This raises a few issues that I have either recently discussed or have written about.
First of all there is no governing on what a dealer supplies you with but there are certain safeguards you can undertake as the consumer.
It is important that you obtain written confirmation of the quote you are provided with that details the name of the colour you have decided upon purchasing.
In this case it is Rosa Luciente from one of the Bretonstone manufacturers Quarella of Italy and the colour can clearly be identified as the stone you may have chosen if you visit the following link
http://www.quarellaspa.com/public/_cfm/page/page_448.cfm
As we do not offer Quarella I have no idea about a such a variation in colour that seems more associated with Granite than a quartz and can only say that the samples we provide for our
Prestige and
Silestone quartz surfaces are a very good indication of what you would have installed.
It can I presume, easily be determined whether your sample is indeed the correct colour you chose if placed next to your installed tops, provided, that is, that you still have it.
As a Quartz and Corian fabricator, we offer up to three free samples for those we undertake quatations for, and we do not request that they be returned so it could, quite easily be determined, if we were acting in any way to hoodwink our clients, and I hasten to add that we would never act so unscrupulously anyway.
I'm not suggesting for a minute that any such dealings have happened here but another safeguard we employ as a fabricator, is that any client must be present at the time of installlation in order to sign off the work to their satisfaction.
I guess Steve, that if you have written confirmation of the colour you ordered, still have the sample sent you that can verify it is indeed Rosa Luciente and that what was installed was Rosa Luciente, then you have very little chance of replacement tops. If, on the other hand, you can prove otherwise then you must present the evidence to your fabricator.
Good luck and do let us know the outcome.
Tim
