Silestone? Where do I start?

It seems only right that, as we are a leading Nationwide fabricator of prestigious countertops and one of the most popular requests for information on Corian and Quartz, we receive, relates to Corian and Engineered stones such as our own Prestige Quartz worksurfaces, that we answer your questions and queries on the subject in a forum. Please feel free to post questions here.

Silestone? Where do I start?

Postby caryn on Tue Mar 04, 2008 10:58 am

Hi, after much researching I think I have decided on silestone for my new kitchen worktops.

The question is - Where do I start with sourcing it and getting it fitted? I have a good idea of my kitchen plan (although not quite finalised) but it does involve an island (probably with an inset hob) and one run of worktop with a sink in the middle.

What are the width and depth options? Would like a fairly wide island run.
Can I order samples?
How do I work out what the total cost will be? (Ok I know - how long is a piece of string!)
How long do I need to give myself for ordering etc?
Does someone need to come and measure up for placement of appliances etc?

Sorry to fire all these questions at once but I basically know nothing of what is involved with this (only discovered it existed after reading a bit about it in Beautiful Kitchens magazine the other day). I had though I wanted granite but it seems it's not as practical as I thought. I am a very busy mum of five kids and need something that needs little or no maintenance and the antibacterial properties appeal to me hugely.

Ok, I'll shut up now.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Caryn.

Well Caryn. welcome to the forum and you have come to the right place for the answers here.
I must ensure we do a bit more work on the website to alert visitors that we are also the source for their worksurfaces in Corian, Stainless Steel and of course Quartz, among these, Silestone and our own Prestige range.

A Silestone slab size is 3050mm x 1370mm yet a fabricated size may be slightly less so joints will be apparent above these size limits.
You can order samples and we will send out up to 3 samples free of charge.
You don't have to work out the total cost, we will do this for you on submission of your plan, drawing, sketch or detailed written dimensions.
No-one needs to measure up appliances but the price we offer you will include two visits, 1 visit to template and 2 to install.

Phew!! OK I'll shut up now save to say, send your plan or dimennsions to info@kitchensfitted.co.uk or fax to 0871 210 2006.

Thanks Tim. As soon as I've got a fairly definite idea of my design (still tweaking at this stage) I'll send it off to you.

Thanks for your reply, will hopefully be back in touch very soon.
