Hi,

We are currently renovating a house and are getting close to start thinking
about kitchens and appliances. Having read through most of your website
(very helpful by the way) I'm still at a bit of a loss as to which make is
best. All of my trendy mates have Smeg and the like but some have had
horendous problems with range cookers etc.

We would ideally like to buy a complete set of appliances from one
manufacturer as we have very hectic lives and cannot afford the time to
pish around researching every brand. We also have the added foible that we
live in Guernsey and only get liquid protroleum gas and so would need
suitable applainces that can be converted easily.

I was ideally thinking of either a range cooker or depending on the ever
changing mind of the Mrs we may instead go for a gas hob and electric oven.
Either way we still don't know which brand to go for and would be pleased
if you could offer any opinion / advice.

My favourites at the moment (on looks alone) are Baumatic, AEG and
Neff.............but bow to your wisdom on the subject!

I hope you can help or at least point us in the right direction!

Thanks and regards,

Ian Smith

Smeg do seem to be forging a reputation as the trendy appliance

and
they are stylish, as you would expect from an Italian manufacturer and this plays a major part in their popularity. However, I base my opinions more on efficieny, reliability,

longevity and, most importantly, user feedback.

With regard to your own appliances, if you are looking at range cookers you would do well to improve upon the Brittannia. Take a look at their site at http://www.rangecooker.co.uk/ I

have fitted many of their ranges and apart from being fitter friendly and aesthetically pleasing, the feedback from users has been extremely positive.

However, should you decide to install built in appliances, the Neff group
would be my recommendation. These include Neff, Siemens, Bosch and
Gaggennau.

They are all reliable products, offer an excellent choice of specifications
and a good aftersales service.

Lpg conversion should not pose a problem with any of the above as it
requires only the changing of jets. It would, however, be sensible to alert
your retailer to this as not all manufacturers will supply the jets as
standard with new products.

Hope this helps in making your choice Ian.
