Jan,
It seems you are referring to one of my installation articles. This component arrives with all integrated dishwashers and is fitted to the underside of a worktop flush with the front edge to act as a barrier against water ingress when the dishwasher is opened soon after a cycle.
It is generally a flexible metal plate that is attached by hammering in the supplied smal pins to the underside of the worktop.
If you are fitting a used dishwasher that has no shield then applying tin foil to the underside will provide a barrier to water ingress. Apply silicone to the foil and stick to underside of top above dishwasher. Not as strong but a good alternative.
